Frequently Asked Questions, and Frequently Made Mistakes for Online Booking
We want to be able to give you online booking options, but these are often not booked correctly, for various reasons. So! Let's go over some things before you try to book your appointment.
- At Goldenrod Parlor, we use time based pricing. This means we are charging for our time, as opposed to a la carte (per service) pricing. Similar to how a massage practitioner or therapist would charge. The timing goes in hour-long increments for our services. My one hour rate, is $75; gratuity free. Each stylist's rate varies. If you are already a client and need a bang trim or neck clean up, please shoot me a message for how to schedule or pricing on this.
- Two days out of the month I will be doing a $55/hour rate primarily for my low income clients and/or LGBTQ, disabled, and BIPOC clients. This is mainly for haircutting services. Please PM me to book these types of appointments. They will be unavailable to book through the website because then anybody could book the time (including those who don't need it). It will be the first Tuesday of the month and one Saturday of the month.
- Please fill out a First Time Client Form if you're a first time client, it's been a year+ since I've done your hair, or you have never seen me before. I will then reach out to you via text to discuss booking.
- If you book a random, or incorrect time for your service whether it was an accident, or because you didn't see the time needed, we may not have the time to do the service you actually wanted. Trying to squeeze a longer service into a shorter time is how ~bad hair~ happens.
- Booking a consultation is just that. A consultation. It's not a service. A consultation is just a 15-30 minute conversation to discuss your hair goals, how you care for your hair at home, what you want done, etc. so that we know what timing we will actually need for your service.
Examples of what *usually* fits into what time frame (If you know you have extremely thick, dense, and/or extra long hair, please come in for a consultation first or book an extra hour) -
- 30 minutes: Consultations; bang trims; clipper cut clean ups; undercuts*Other than consultations, all of these services are for repeat clients and we have made sure your appointment fits into 30 minutes.*
- 60 minutes: Bobs; mullets; shags; most standard haircuts; toner or a scalp treatment (no blowdry); moisture or bonding treatment with blowdry; shampoo and blowdry with minimal iron work; clipper cut with treatment or eyebrow wax; express curly cuts (dry cut with style refresh)
- 1.5 hours: Surface foil, toner, and style; shampoo and blowdry with full flat ironing; big transformation haircuts
- 2 hours: Curly cuts (to read more on this, g to my write up on curly cuts!); base color and style; full color and style; partial highlight/balayage, toner, and style; shaved head creative color and cut refresh
- 3 hours: Curly cuts on denser and/or highly tangled hair; full head bleach and tone; full highlight or balayage, toner, and style; color corrections (starting point but can often be longer)
Thanks for listening, and I hope your booking can now go much smoother! As we adjust to this style of scheduling, we may have to tweak some things and I'll keep you posted.
